LEAP Accounting The database cannot be published TCPIP had an error when publishing the port numbers

On the LEAP server if you receive the error

The database cannot be published

When you press OK the message

TCP/IP v2003, had an error when publishing the port numbers that a client application. Error code #-1

Close LEAP and make sure the leap accounting server.exe process is stopped.

Open task manager and end the process.

Start LEAP accounting. If you get the same error message again, stop the Windows DNS service, Start leap accounting

LEAP should open without an error

Then start the DNS service again

You can test access to LEAP by running

telnet serverip 3939

You should see the response shown below

Check client setting

Once the server is working the client should be able to talk to it. If not check the following settings on the client

Hold down the Alt key while opening LEAP and it will open a configuration with 3 tabs

Recent
Tcpip
Custom
Check the TCP/IP tab – if it has the server address press OK

If nothing is in the tcpip tab go to the custom tab. Make sure name and network address are correct for the server and database name

Server: serveripaddress

Database name: LEAP Accounting 2003

Once these settings are correct leap accounting should open correctly. If not check the firewall on the server has port 3939 open for Domain access.
